Joseph's obedience, Advent Day 16

"Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the Holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."
~ Matthew 1: 24-25

Joseph had doubts in his heart about Mary and the child she carried. He must also have been deeply hurt by her betrayal of him.
In his sleep, an angel commands him and he obeys. He chooses to disregard the doubts and hurt in his heart and trust in God and His messenger.
He chooses to trust and in so doing is granted a unique role in salvation history.
What joy Joseph must have experienced at the birth of the Savior, the one who would save his people from their sins.
He surely rejoiced in knowing he made the right choice.
We also get to choose. Why do we resist choosing our Lady and her Son?
