Advent, Day 7

Although death during Advent is hard for those who lose loved ones, it is also true that as Christians we are to celebrate their lives and rejoice that they are in heaven.

Still, the grief that comes from these losses puts a damper on the underlying joy of preparing for the Coming of the King.

In our community we have lost three people who were longtime residents. Their lives filled our community with knowledge and history and joy.
We must take comfort that they have been faithful Christians so I know they will be welcomed by our Lord and Savior.
In that sense, they already know more about "the coming of the King" than those of us who have yet to face our Maker.

"On the day the LORD binds up the wounds of his people,
he will heal the bruises left by his blows." ~ Isaiah 30:26

Lord, please comfort those who suffer from the loss of loved ones.
